Competitive Business Planning

Capstone Project

Competitive business planning is essential for success. That is why the Executive MBA curriculum touches on all components of the business plan which culminates with the Capstone Project at the end of the program. The Capstone Project allows students to create a comprehensive business plan, putting into action all that has been learned throughout the program and with the added value of receiving objective and personalized, one-on-one coaching, proving to be extremely valuable and welcomed by the students.

Take the Prize

In addition to the required Capstone Project, there is an opportunity to participate in the College’s Annual Business Plan Competition. Although participation in this competition is optional, it is often looked at as a privilege for many WSU students, ranging from undergraduates to Executive MBAs. The Business Plan competition is an extraordinary opportunity for online students to join together, from across the nation, and compete for cash, prizes, recognition and the chance to present their ideas to business leaders.

The judges (entrepreneurs from successfully launched businesses; leaders of innovative businesses, venture capitalists, angel investors and bankers) are capable and often willing to invest in business plans if presented with that opportunity. During the past competition, more than 45 teams presented their plans to a panel of 40 judges from the business community. The winning teams shared cash and prizes totaling $100,000.

“The business plan competition is an outstanding, real-world, integrative learning opportunity for all of the participants. The interaction with the judges gives everyone involved a chance not only to better understand how to launch a new venture and to build a network with experts in the new venture ecosystem, but this also elevates the learning way beyond the normal academic experience.”
